Our Story

On August 18, 1788, as he prepared to become the first president of the United States of America, George Washington wrote to Alexander Hamilton, saying, "I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man."

This is my sincere hope for The Julian Law Firm: that my actions as attorney and advocate for my clients earns me that most enviable title.

Marsh Julian

Owner, Managing Attorney

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Marsh Julian is a transplant to Florence and the Pee Dee region. After high school, he had a prosperous career in various construction areas, including heavy equipment operation and truck driving. While still in Columbia, he met his wife, Carla, while she completed her pharmacy doctorate at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. Prior to marriage, Marsh and Carla moved to Carla’s hometown of Bennettsville, South Carolina, where he began work as a plumbing and electrical contractor for a local company. After marriage, the two of them made Bennettsville their home for over four years, and during this time, Marsh decided to return to academia. He completed two semesters of night school at Florence Darlington Technical College, while still working full-time as a plumber and electrician. He, then, enrolled in Francis Marion University in 2010, as a full-time student and graduated cum laude in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in History.

While at Francis Marion University, he soon found his path leading him towards the law. He applied for admission to the University of South Carolina School of Law. In preparation for law school, Marsh and Carla moved back to Columbia, South Carolina. He matriculated directly from Francis Marion to the University of South Carolina School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2016. While still in law school, he began clerking for a local boutique firm that specialized in homeowners’ association representation. After being licensed to practice law in South Carolina, he continued his work representing HOAs and handling various property law issues.

However, they decided to make the Pee Dee their home in 2017, when they made the permanent move to Florence, South Carolina. At that time, Marsh, still commuting to Columbia, knew it was time to put down some professional roots closer to home. He accepted a position as a local prosecutor in August 2017. As a prosecutor, he handled hundreds of traffic and criminal cases. He prosecuted many cases before judges and juries all while learning invaluable experience and knowledge of the legal system and criminal justice system. This time was truly rewarding for him and caused him to meet some of the best people he knows, including many fine law enforcement officers. However, he knew that he could offer more to the legal practice, so in July 2019, he officially left government practice for private practice. He is still a litigator, spending most of his time in a courtroom, while focusing mainly on family law, criminal defense, personal injury, and other civil matters.

While Marsh’s love of the law runs deep, his whole heart resides with his amazing family. Marsh and Carla have four wonderful children, his family are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, where Marsh teaches Sunday School and serves as a deacon. Marsh and his family are avid Gamecock fans. He enjoys, traveling with his family, cooking, golfing, and all things outdoors: hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and canoeing.
